Education Outreach ProgramContact: John Zimkus, 513-932-1817 The Warren County Historical Society is pleased to offer schools from all over Warren County the opportunity to experience our community's history through its Educational Outreach Program. Educational outreach is designed to enhance the teaching of social studies with particular emphasis on the Ohio Department of Education's standards. The Warren County Historical Society offers the following onsite educational outreach programs presented in your classroom by our trained staff: Towns, Taverns & Transportation
Using laminated maps of Warren County students trace the development of Warren County towns. Discussion includes place names, roads, modes of transportation and time required to travel between various places. Supports the Ohio Department of Education's social studies standards for community building, geography, people in society and industrialization. The People Called Shakers in Warren County
Using their writings, their music and a few of their inventions, this program highlights the contributions that the Shakers made to our society and chronicles their rise and fall as our community grew from a few cabins to a thriving county of towns and farms and industry. The program supports the Ohio Department of Education's social studies standards for cultural patterns, economics and people in society. Pioneer Life in Warren County
Using a grab bag of clothing, tools, household items, medicines and other articles of daily life, both authentic and reproduction, students are invited to examine the material culture of our pioneer families and compare it to that used in their own lives. Supports the Ohio Department of Education's standards for social studies in economics, cultural patterns and technology. |
