Glendower Historic Mansion is now permanently closed.
It is with a heavy heart that we must part with the beautiful house museum known as Glendower Historic Mansion. Unfortunately, we can no longer afford to maintain the property. WCHS is a private non-profit 501c3 organization and receives most of its operating budget from admissions, event ticketing and private donations with some appreciated government support. It was our hope, when we launched our Five Million Dollar "Celebrate Our Future" Capital Campaign, we would acquire the funds needed to maintain Glendower Historic Mansion and Arboretum. These hopes were not fulfilled.
Many historic properties within Warren County are being mistreated, neglected or destroyed, disgracing their historic value and OUR heritage in the process. WCHS' hope is the historic home pass to someone with the same passion for history as we have, and the funds to maintain the home well into the future.
We would like to thank visitors and patrons over the last 80 years, whether administrated by WCHS or the Ohio History Connection. We would like to thank Glendower’s Site Manager, Elizabeth Grauwelman, for her tireless efforts and generous donation of her time. And we would like to thank YOU for your support and understanding. We hope to see you at YOUR local history museum, Harmon Museum.

What You'll Find:
Built ca. 1835-1840, the hillside manor, Glendower Historic Mansion, is noted as “one of the finest examples of Residential Greek Revival architecture style in the Midwest." During its colorful history, Glendower was a home to the families of a prosecuting attorney, a Union Civil War general and a rich socialite. Since then, this stately manor has served as a museum, providing a natural setting for many elegant furnishings and culturally significant artifacts from Warren County’s past. The dates of these artifacts range from roughly 1840 to 1940, the time in which the home was lived in. Learn more about the history of Glendower Mansion here. Glendower Mansion’s elegant exterior features include Ionic and Doric columns, classic carved cornices and porticoes and a hipped roof with a captain’s walk. This is a popular backdrop for those looking to exchange their vows on the grounds. Our arboretum is cared for by our Master Gardeners. Parking & Entrance: Parking is free. Enter from Cincinnati Avenue to the south or Orchard Avenue to the north. The entrance is the rear entrance, a few yards from the parking lot.
