We're An Official Location!

We have been selected as an official location for the state's Ohio-250 Celebration; one of only three in Warren County! We'll be viewing the 1926 silent classic, The Scarlet Letter, staring Lillian Gish, who was born in Springfield, Ohio.

Before the era of "movie stars," there was the ethereal, Lillian Gish. Often called the "First Lady of American Cinema," Gish didn’t just act; she pioneered the very language of film performance. While her peers were still using the broad, exaggerated gestures of the stage, Gish moved the art form toward understatement, nuance, and raw emotional depth.

She was a woman who commanded the screen with a porcelain fragility that masked an iron will, a duality that made her the definitive interpreter of the silent era’s greatest heroines.

This adaptation of The Scarlet Letter is a masterclass in visual storytelling. Gish personally fought to have this film made, choosing the director and her co-stars. Her portrayal of Hester is not one of a passive victim, but of a woman with immense internal strength and quiet dignity. Directed by the legendary Swedish filmmaker Victor Sjöström, the film blends European atmospheric tension with Hollywood’s grand scale, creating a hauntingly beautiful aesthetic.
